7 Super Helpful Craft Fair Display Tips

Several years ago, I began doing craft fairs and markets. Your setup and display is so important! It reflects your brand and it also can attract or detract potential customers. Here are a few craft fair display tips that will help you plan and improve how you set up your table.

Craft Show Display Tips

Plan And Stick With A Theme

Planning is everything when it comes to making a cohesive and beautiful market display. Here are a few things to keep in mind when you’re coming up with ideas for your table.

If you have brand colors or even a brand mood board, keeping these things in mind while you’re planning will be super helpful!

  • Think about the look and feel you want your table to convey.
  • Limit colors to around 2-3 and preferably stick to your brand colors.
  • Gather Inspiration
  • Make a list of items you need

There is nothing worse than going shopping when you don’t have a plan. You may end up buying items that aren’t quite right if you don’t have a good plan in place, so make a list before you go!

Negative Space Is Your Friend

Sometimes it can be tempting to fill your table to the brim in hopes that someone will find something to buy.

This can sometimes overwhelm people in making a decision! Filling in every last bit of space can make your craft display look chaotic and thrown together. On the other hand, negative space allows for your display to look more calm and balanced.

This doesn’t mean you can’t bring a lot of inventory, but think about leaving a bit of space around groups of items will actually draw the viewers attention more to those items!

Bring Multiples Of Similar Items

This can be hard if you are an artist that makes one of a kind pieces. But if you’re able to bring a few items that are very similar or make 2 or 3 of the same item, that would be great!

Groups and collections of things can make a table appear more neat and organized. People naturally gravitate towards patterns and groups of things. It also signals to onlookers that your product may even be a bestseller if you’ve brought more than one!

This brings me to my next tip which is to…

Separate Groups Of Items With Containers

A great way to separate items is by putting them on display dishes or in boxes or baskets. Adding items to containers will help to make your table look neat and organized and it’s a great way to keep small items contained.

Display At Varying Heights

Displaying items at different levels and heights can really add interest to your display.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Lay a few items flat on the table and leaning other items up against something.
  • Crates and boxes are also a great way to mix up different heights. Place items in or on top of them.
  • You can also use wire wracks for smaller items such as jewelry.

Invest In Or Make Product Packaging

Depending on what kinds of items you sell, you may want to consider ordering or making some nice packaging. Items that would be suitable for packaging could be things like jewelry, art prints, patches, etc.

Set Up Your Table At Home Before You Go

I have personally found that doing a practice run and setting up your table at home before you go to the market or craft fair is really helpful. This will allow you to see how the finished set up will look and you can make any small adjustments if needed.

Craft fair nerves are completely normal, and having a solid plan will be sure to somewhat alleviate them!

Take a picture once you’re happy with your setup so you can refer to it if you need to.
